Field Surveys, Site Recording, and Specimen Collection
Osteosearch can assist with fieldwork and expeditions, surveys (archaeological, biogeographical), and of course, osteology (the identification and analysis of skeletal remains).
Often bones and bone fragments from a number of animals can be easily misinterpreted as human. Osteosearch can assist in making not only a determination of human/non-human, but can guide you through the next steps (whether it needs to be reported and to whom, if necessary).
It is also very possible that natural processes of deterioration, fossilization, or pathology can result in misidentification of a known animal to be misinterpreted as 'cryptid' or 'mysterious'. Please see our page on Cryptozoology.
Contact Osteosearch with your questions or send a photo of your unidentified remains to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we'll do what we can to help!
Site Recording and Surveys:
Onsite or remote mapping and recording of your site data, published in a format convenient to you.
Osteosearch may be in the field when or where you can't, and can collect zoological, osteological or archaeological specimens according to your specifications or our standard. Contact us and let us know what you need and we'll see if we can help!
Background research and general consultation in wilderness navigation, survival and risk assessment, as well as survey, collection, and/or mapping guidelines.
We are a not-for-profit organization and our fieldwork is performed pro bono or for significanlty reduced fees (to cover expenses) for nonprofit organziations, small groups and qualifying individuals. Please ask if you qualify!
